"Fast is fine, but accuracy is final. You must learn to be slow in a hurry” ~ Wyatt Earp.
Courses designed by USA Mounted archery are designed so that the horse may go slow. There will be more targets per meter then your average Horse Archery organization. This will require you to be in a hurry. However, developing your own strategies, mixing in a bit of speed to improve points while still being accurate is the key to breaking into the highest levels of Mounted Archery.
We've decided to make twenty levels to the Horse Archery or Mounted Archery journey. These levels are divided into three peer groups.
Bronze (Levels 1-5)
At the Bronze or student level, you and your horse are still finding your way. We are here to help you in your Mounted Archery journey. Riders may wear a bronze sash to indicate their peer group. A silver star for each level may be embroidered or pinned to the sash. The silver stars indicate each level of mastery and the hope to break into the next peer grouping. Sashes may be worn around the waist, tucked into a belt or about the left upper arm as an armband.
Silver ( Levels 6-10)
At the Silver or Advanced level, you are working on your skills as a Horse archer. You are finding your way and developing your strategies. Riders may wear a Silver sash to indicate this peer group. A gold star for each level may be embroidered or pinned to the sash. The gold star indicates each level of mastery and the hope to get that gold sash. Sashes may be worn around the waist, tucked into a belt or about the left upper arm as an armband.
Gold (Levels 11-20)
The Order of the Golden Horde. There are 10 levels in the Gold peer group, much like levels for Martial Arts black belts. Riders may wear a gold sash to indicate this peer group. A bronze star for each level may be embroidered or pinned to the sash. The bronze stars indicate that while you may be achieving a high level of progression in Horse Archery, you should continue approaching it as a student. Never forget where you came from. Sashes may be worn around the waist, tucked into a belt or about the left upper arm as an armband.

Please click the button below to access the scoring table for each of the three courses
There are currently three courses within USA Mounted archery which help you to achieve Mastery. Those three courses are the Hit & Run 5-5, Castle 80 and the Straight Hunt 7. One must obtain a single sheet from the Hit & Run 5-5 to advance to the next level. Scoresheets do not expire, as the higher you go, the harder it is to obtain a more perfect sheet. Achieving a level may be conducted at a leveling session, practice or in a competition. Faking your scores, will show up at competition so be honorable. You will be required to have at least two witnesses to sign your leveling sheet.
